We Studied One Million Students. This Is What We Learned About Masking.
RETURNING TO SCHOOL THIS FALL, CHILDREN SHOULD BE VACCINATED IF ELIGIBLE, WEAR MASKS OR PREPARE TO RISK GETTING COVID. Big questions loom over the upcoming back-to-school season: Should children be required to wear masks? Should children go to in-person classes at all? If we send children to school without masks, we increase their risk of acquiring Covid-19. Some could suffer illness or die.

Hospitals run low on nurses as they get swamped with COVID
The rapidly escalating surge in COVID-19 infections across the U.S. has caused a shortage of nurses and other front-line staff in virus hot spots that can no longer keep up with the flood of unvaccinated patients and are losing workers to burnout and lucrative out-of-state temporary gigs.

Some children's hospitals in Covid-19 hotspots are especially busy
As of Saturday, the number of children who were hospitalized increased week-over-week, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Specifically, there was an average of 203 children with Covid-19 admitted to US hospitals every day over the past week, CDC data shows. That's a more than 21% increase from the previous week in daily new hospitalizations among Covid-19 patients ages 0 to 17.
